Why we're building this

We kept noticing the same thing in our own families: a dish everyone loved, a technique only one person still remembered, a story that only came up once a year at the table. Nothing written down, nothing backed up — just passed along by memory, and getting a little harder to pass on with every year that goes by.

Moves, migration, and busy lives make it harder for generations to cook and share together. When a recipe disappears, it isn't just a dish that's lost — it's a piece of a family's story.

We're a team of five, each bringing our own family's food traditions to this project — different cuisines, different ways of passing recipes down, but the same worry that they could quietly disappear. That's personal to us. It's also why we're starting close to home, through our own families and communities, to find the first families who'll help us build this right.
